Visiting with my Godparents A.KA. Auntie Denise and Uncle Joe

While my godparents were in town around News Years we took an the opportunity to check out Salado. It's about 30 minutes from the house and was recommended to me as an upscale type shopping area. Definitely the place to take visiting family and friends. It was quaint and the shops are in deed pricey but they carry unique things. There is a little kitchen store I fell in love with there. I love kitchen stores. So many gadgets so little time! It was also quite picturesque I thought. In fact, we enjoyed it so much the last time we went that my godmother and I went again during the kids spring break but this time without the kids. It's a lot easier to browse without restless hands that have the need to touch everything especially the breakable things! The following series of pictures were from our January trip.

New Years Eve at the Hula Hut

So this is was taken with my iPhone. Kind of grainy but it was a cute pic. We went to this place called the Hula Hut for dinner. It's Hawaiian/Mexican Fusion restaurant that sits on Lake Austin. Really fun atmosphere and really good food! We took my parents and god-parents when they came out to visit.

Chilling With Daddy

So the pictures certainly aren't my best work more like snapshots that photographs but it was too late in the day and I hate using my flash. But the scene out back was just too funny. These pictures were taken in between Christmas and New Years and the girls were having funny playing baseball well sort of with Mike in the backyard. What's even funnier is that if you look at Addie's feet you'll notice she's wearing plastic roller skates while trying to play baseball!

Christmas Day 2008

So this post in mainly for our family that could be here for Christmas last year. I realize I've been a bit remiss about getting these posted but hey better late than never right. So the first bunch are from Christmas Morning. Addie and Lysie just loved their Santa gift although it was a joint gift and Lysie was so excited about her dress up cloths that Grammy Linda and Papa Rolf bought her that she had to put them on before proceeding to open the rest of her gifts. Nick was so excited about the elevated trains we got for him that he could not contain himself! And I'm not sure if you can tell from the pictures we had our first Adult Christmas including using our China (Yes this is a first for us) and a centerpiece. It only took us 8 years married to grow up!

Christmas Musical at the Preschool

WE LOVE SNOW

I realize this may not look like much to our friends and family that see real snow all winter long but our kids were thrilled! As we drove out of the driveway to take Addie to school, the girls were chanting in the back seat "We love snow". And Lysie couldn't wait to get home and play with it but I was trying to figure out how she planned on get on the roof to do that. For several weeks after that she would periodically mention how were going to go the snow. Looks like it's not going to happen this year but maybe we can plan a long weekend next year to play in the snow. I've been told the closest place to get to some snow from here is New Mexico. We'll have to check it out.

The Nutcracker Suite

It's now become sort of a tradition to take our children to see the nutcracker suite around Christmas. We get all dressed up, well sort of, eat some place fancy, and we take turns to see who can fall asleep the fastest during the first act while our children wiggle all over the place. It honestly is a lot of fun but we might make it any every other year tradition so they can get old enough to appreciate it. And just for the record, the second act is way more entertaining than the first.

The mice come out during intermission and dance outside for the children to see.
